    2013 Inc. 5000

    Inc’s 2013 list of the top 5000 fastest growing companies in the US  is now online and the top 3 fastest growing companies are:

    1. Fuhu – creators of the Nabi, an Android tablet for kids, and Fooz Kids, an Adobe Air application that “kiddifies” computers so children can become familiar with the Internet in a parent-controlled environment. Fuhu had an incredible 42,148% growth in revenue in the last 3 years, skyrocketing from $279,000 to $117.9 million.
    2. Federal Conference – handles all aspects of event planning for the US government. Federal Conference had a 24,831% growth in 3 years, from $199,056 to $49.6 million.
    3. The HCI Group – a health care IT consultancy that performs installations for EHR (electronic health records), validation, testing, launching, optimization, and ongoing support. The HCI Group had a 24,545% growth in 3 years, from $103,475 to $25.5 million.

    Thanks Mylie for Helping Oxford Twerk It Out

    Although the term “twerking” has been around longer than Miley Cyrus herself, thanks to her performance at the VMA (and the media vomit that immediately ensued), now even my grandparents are twerking it (figuratively speaking); and now that it is in the Oxford Dictionaries Online, they know how to use the word in proper context.

    Hey, what other words can I now frustrate my Scrabble buddies with?

    YouTube Insights July 2013

    Sorry, John Stewart, but YouTube tops more viewers than Comedy Central in the most sought after age group of 18-34 year olds.

    By now, everybody has seen this music video by Robin Thicke Blurred Lines, featuring Pharrell Williams and T.I. Oh, yeah, also featuring models Emily Ratajkowski (@realemrata), Elle Evans (@elloelee_), and Jessi M’Bengue (@Jessimbengue) walking around naked. If you’re offended by nudity then suggest the earlier version or this Jimmy Fallon rendition.

    Despite being banned from YouTube for being too risqué (who knew YouTube was own by Disney) the video still went viral and the song skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. And Robin Thicke pinch hit for Daft Punk on the Stephen Colbert Report, effectively touted as the “song of the summer”.

    Robin Thicke recently told Howard Stern on The Howard Stern Show that the song was inspired by his wife Paula Patton.

    The song “Blurred Lines” has the line, “She’s a good girl, but she wants to be a bad girl,” it’s very much about my wife. My wife is Mrs. Good Girl. Gradually, over our marriage, I’ve turned her into a bad girl.
