Born in Wurzburg Germany, Karen Kent was raised in Garden City, New York and has lived in Fairfield, CT for twenty years with her husband and three children. She graduated with honors from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Fine Arts and Architecture. Her drafting skills combined with an original eye for design and color led to a successful career as an interior designer. A member of ASID for twenty seven years, Karen worked with both commercial and residential clients in Westchester and Fairfield counties.

Karen is now pursuing her first love – painting. Her love of nature and the outdoors is evident in her work. Karen's pastels and oils convey a feeling of peace and serenity. As she says, "I am awed by the beauty of everything around us and painting lets me express my wonder from my soul." Her color palette is vibrant and full of life.

Karen has studied at The Silvermine Guild Art Center and with pastelists, Susan Ogilvie and Frank Frederico. She is also a member of the Pink House, a group of artists of all media, founded by Arlene Skutch. But her greatest influence has been her eighty four year old Aunt Rita, an accomplished painter, whose work has inspired Karen since childhood. They just love to paint together.
