This site showcases the (mostly) digital work of Andrew DiFiore from both Virtual Arts Studios and answerYES Interactive as well as random thoughts and experimental projects too volatile to be contained anywhere else.

Redesigned Greenwich Pool Service website under a modern content management system with search engine optimization and seamless integration with Google AdWords.

Greenwich Pool Service has been a family-owned business for three generations, serving Fairfield County and Westchester County since 1986. They are experts at servicing and renovating in-ground concrete and gunite swimming pools.

Greenwich Pool Service has been a long-time client, we helped them launch kiln dried firewood business Fire It Up Firewood in 2009 with a new logo, ecommerce website, and ongoing search marketing.

It has been an obvious feature long time coming: Scheduled Posts. Finally, you can do inside Facebook what third-party tools like HootSuite and TweetDeck have done for years. That is, if you can find the feature.

Rolled out along with page security (admins can now assign roles), Facebook decided to make the scheduler a little hard to find.

Maybe it is Facebook’s aggressive development cycle but I always get the feeling that half the features are afterthoughts, retrofitted into an architecture designed for something else.

Now that Facebook is a public company, I imagine the pressure to appeal to advertisers and businesses is going to be greater. A good example is the new Promoted Post which allow brands to set a nominal budget for “sponsored” posts to appear within news feeds (kinda like Twitter’s Promoted Tweet feature).

Not to worry, I’m sure the design team at Menlo Park will get around to fixing the usability issues… if the marketing team could stop telling the development team to skip the QA team.

It Doesn’t Get Much Better Than “Amercia”

If I didn’t know better, it would seem this gaffe was contrived.

After all, what better way to get non-Romney supporters to download the With Mitt iPhone (iPad) app and help the Republican presidential candidate go viral… even if it is at his own expense. It’s brilliant!

Really hard to imagine no one throughout the production process never caught such an obvious typo. I guess this is what happens when you outsource tech overseas.

By now v1.0.1 is available on the App Store but the old app still works. It doesn’t really matter, all the tweets and blog posts will have to run their course. There is even a Tumblr dedicated to the “Amercia Is With Mitt” meme.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Dragon Makes History

The historic first commercial spacecraft Falcon 9/Dragon launched today, May 22th, 2012, It will dock with the International Space Station on May 25th and return home on May 31st.

With NASA officially closing down the Space Shuttle program (a.k.a. Space Transportation System or STS) in 2011, the mantle of responsibility for US interest in space has been passed to private companies like SpaceX. SpaceX, of course, was established in 2002 by inventor and engineer Elon Musk, founder of PayPal and Tesla Motors.

Keep up to date with the space mission at the official SpaceX website.

    Tongue Tied by Grouplove

Another song that got a huge bump from a TV commercial (in this case, Apple iPod Touch) but getting featured on Glee is not too shabby. The song is “Tongue Tied” by Grouplove.

    {Ed. Note 6/18/12: As of today, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation pulled the Glee version of this song off YouTube. Bummer.}
